Teach English to children at schools in rural Peru in a personal way and help out with daily activities around the kindergarten! In this project, you will partake in the day-to-day operations of the kindergarten. Your main task will be to teach the children English through fun activities and make their learning experience enjoyable and beneficial. You will be assisting the local teachers as well as other schools in the area. — PROGRAM DESCRIPTION : Our main area of work will be Mayopata Kindergarten, which is only a 2 minute walk from the accommodation, it is one of three that the government runs with limited funds in Baños del Inca and one of seven in total in the Cajamarca area. This specific school (Mayopata) has around 15 children. But you may be assigned to the other kindergartens in the area that might require your assistance. Your role will involve looking after the children, managing classes, assisting local staff with caretaking, playing games, guiding activities whilst teaching them basic English along the way. The children are between 2-4 years old and are eager to learn and interact with you! AIMS &OBJECTIVES : Engage with the local children and teach them basic English to increase their future prospects ; Give you practical experience in teaching children ; Assist and support the local kindergarten staff with caretaking
The accommodation has beautiful view of the Andes Mountain Range and is close to the Amazon Rainforest, it will bring you back to South American nature! — Standard Accommodation : You will be staying in our accommodation center in rural Cajamarca. The house is made with traditional materials such as adobe and stone, it also has large gardens and its own chicken coop off to the side. Wifi will be available in your rooms but keep in mind that it may not be stable at times. We recommend also using 3G data if this is important for you. — All participants are expected to be environmentally aware and to use all resources with restraint, especially water, paper and electricity. Although rooms will be cleaned daily by staff, you will be expected to clean up after yourself, and to play your part to keep the accommodation neat and organized. Food arrangements : The food will be typically Peruvian meaning lots of corn, beans, rice, chilli peppers, potatoes, wheat, and other grain, all very vegetarian friendly. Keep in mind that some local dishes may be spicy! Facilities : Since our centre is located in close proximity to the township of Baños del Inca, you will have access to a range of facilities including the local gym and swimming pool.
Location You will be staying in the Los Baños del Inca district east of Cajamarca, it is known for being centered on a naturally occurring thermal spring. Located only a short way away from Cajamarca (Peru’s capital enriched in culture and history), this quiet location provides a relaxing atmosphere after a day out.

Culture week mandatory: 210€ to start the programme. Reception at the airport at the arrival. — Additional Requirements There are no further requirements for this program. Additional Equipment No specific equipment required for this program, but you are more than welcome to bring teaching materials for your class!Minimum English level: Intermediate. — ARRIVALS : volunteers are picked up at the airport of CAJAMARCA – CJA (Mayor General FAP Armando Revoredo Iglesias Airport) ONLY on Sunday (to start programme on Monday). Additional Requirements : You must be aware of the altitude (2750 MASL) and effects it may have on the condition of your health.
