GREENLION PERU

TRAVAIL

OVERVIEW : Teach at a local primary or secondary school in rural areas of Northern Peru! Your main objective will be to plan and conduct fun classes to help the children learn English, a skill that will prove invaluable as they get older and help local communities. As this area of Peru is slowly becoming a popular tourist destination, locals could create jobs for themselves instead of tourism getting taken over by international companies the way it has happened in other areas of Peru. — PROGRAM DESCRIPTION : During this program, you will be teaching at local primary or secondary schools in nearby villages, all of which are within a 30 minute drive from the accommodation. You will be driven to the school each morning on a minibus. You can conduct classes in varied and dynamic ways, with activities such as games, dramas, songs, and movies that will help the students learn English in a fun way! Your input at these schools is invaluable to support the language learning of local Peruvian children. — AIMS &OBJECTIVES : Help locals to overcome the language barrier and increase their future prospects, Inspire children to learn both written and spoken English through creative teaching methods, Give you practical experience in teaching as well as a unique experience of local Peru, Assist the program staff with extra hands. Schedule : Monday to Friday. You will teach half-days from Monday to Friday, either in the morning or the afternoon for about 3-4 hours. The other half of the day is likely to be spent planning classes and teaching material.

LOGEMENT &NOURRITURE

Standard Accommodation : You will be staying in our accommodation center in rural Cajamarca. The house is made with traditional materials such as adobe and stone, it also has large gardens and its own chicken coop off to the side. Wifi will be available in your rooms but keep in mind that it may not be stable at times. We recommend also using 3G data if this is important for you. All participants are expected to be environmentally aware and to use all resources with restraint, especially water, paper and electricity. Although rooms will be cleaned daily by staff, you will be expected to clean up after yourself, and to play your part to keep the accommodation neat and organized. — Food arrangements: The food will be typically Peruvian meaning lots of corn, beans, rice, chilli peppers, potatoes, wheat, and other grain, all very vegetarian friendly. Keep in mind that some local dishes may be spicy! Facilities : Since our centre is located in close proximity to the township of Baños del Inca, you will have access to a range of facilities including the local gym and swimming pool.

SITUATION

Location You will be staying in the Los Baños del Inca district east of Cajamarca, it is known for being centered on a naturally occurring thermal spring. Located only a short way away from Cajamarca (Peru’s capital enriched in culture and history), this quiet location provides a relaxing atmosphere after a day out.
