The children from the rural area of Kuching will love to meet people from overseas and the exposure to the different cultures. Teachers, with or without experience, can make very significant and worthwhile contributions to the student community in Kuching. You must love children and understand their behavior, as you will be surrounded with loads of them every day and their friendliness can sometimes become over exuberant, but they are children afterall. The aims &objectives is to help the kids grow in their confidence and learn better English which will help them in many ways in the future. Please take note of the school holidays (12-16 Mar, 28 May-12 Jun, 10-18 Sep &26 Nov-31 Dec) as well as public holidays. During such times, painting or renovation work continues, with the option to join special classes and English camps that are regularly requested by the local community
Accommodation is a standard semi-detached house in a residential area called Kali Garden in Kuching. This is one of the typical homes. A small park behind the house is where residents jog and exercise. There is a Malay village and a fishing village within the vicinity. Our rooms allocate 4-8 people based on a single-gender basis and shared toilet with your roommates. We provide for 3 meals during weekday (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and 2 meals during the weekend (breakfast and dinner). Malaysian food is tasty and diverse and you can expect to experience a myriad of flavors and meals during their stay. Typical dishes include mee kok lo (noodles and vegetables either dry or soup), nasi goreng (fried rice and vegetables) or roti canai (is a type of Indian influenced flatbread found in Malaysia. Breakfasts are varied and and include toast, cereals, fresh fruit, etc. Tea, coffee and purified water is available at the house. We do not recommend that you drink water straight from the tap
