Babies Child Care – This child care center was started under the Child and Labor Department of Sri Lanka. All the children could not receive the needed care at home and are provided with better living conditions, shelter and food. The child care center in Sri Lanka operate with minimal resources and a handful of staff. By placing participants here we help the child care centers carry out daily operations without interruptions. Participants are required to strictly follow the rules and adapt to the conditions of the center and not compare them to Western standards. Local centers have their own methods of working with children. The child care center looks after babies and provides them with food, clothing, childcare and medical care with the help of other private organizations and with the help of the participants. Participants will be required to care for around 15 – 20 babies all of whom are below 12 months old. Their duties involve helping the staff in cleaning beds, changing nappies, bed sheets, and pillows and keeping the area clean and sterile. You will also have to help prepare baby food and feed the babies. Elders’ Home – The Elders home is more than 15 years old and provides a better quality of life to elderly people. They provide food, shelter and medical facilities free of charge. At the moment, they house 75 adults both male and female aged between 50 to 80 years. The home provides accommodation, food, clothing and medication with the help of private organizations and you. Elders’ Homes in Sri Lanka operate with minimal resources and a handful of staff. St Joseph’s Orphanage is more than 40 years old and the Bathshalom Boys Home is approximately 10 years old. Child care centers in Sri Lanka operate with minimal resources and a handful of staff. Building and Renovation – The project involves rebuilding and renovating Buddhist temples in and around Kandy. Work in the temple includes repainting the temples, cleaning in and around temples, helping with the construction work, interacting with the children and villagers and helping the temples arrange community centers for the youth of the village.
