Get to visit and experience the grandeur of this vastly distinctive regions of this exotic country! As part of this unique experience you will visit 4 vastly distinctive regions and explore their exotic, unique and exciting culture. On the road trip visit the world­famous former Dutch colony of Galle, the beautiful botanical garden, tea factories, marvel at various architecture and also famous relics. This road trip is guaranteed to give you an amazing and unforgettable adventure! Spend 4 weeks travelling around enjoying many attractions, experiences, beautiful views etc. that Sri Lanka has to offer. These four weeks of the Sri Lanka experience has been designed to give you the best of the best of Sri Lanka. Embrace Sri Lanka is in the introduction week in Kandy, get familiar with the culture and people of Sri Lanka. On this week you we will explain the do’s and don’ts regarding safety, transport and women travelers. Get acquainted with Buddhism, mysterious mythology behind this culture,visit temples including the temple of the tooth. Enrich your experience with language sessions to interact with locals and know how traditional Ayurvedic massage feels like. Also witness an ancient Kandyan dance performance and last but not least, you will get to look, smell and taste inside the Sri Lankan’s cuisine during the cooking sessions. On your second week, you can choose between trekking week or elephant experience for a week. On your third week, you can choose between trekking week or beach week. The aim of this program is to bring you closer to the authentic Sri Lanka . Through different projects and activities, you will get to truly immerse yourself in the culture, customs and lifestyle.


You will be accommodated in our center which is located 2 kilometers away from Kandy center. Our rooms allocate 4-6 people based on a single-gender basis and shared toilet with your roommates. There is a beautiful garden by the river to relax in and dining and lounge areas where you can hang out with fellow participants. Furthermore, there is a refrigerator which you are welcome to use to store food and beverages. Safety lockers are available to store your belongings. We do not have Wi-Fi at the centre. You will be provided with three meals a day on weekdays and two meals per day on weekends. The meals are a mix of Western and Sri Lankan food, consisting mainly of vegetarian dishes including rice and vegetables. You can also eat out at any of the local restaurants.


Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka is a major tourist destination. About 115 km from Colombo at 465 meters above sea level. Famous for the Temple of the Tooth and many other temples the city could be called the cultural capital of the island. This bustling market town is rich in cultural diversity has plenty to offer to the tourists from songs dances and handicrafts to ancient temples and adventure activities.Kandy was a royal capital and the last stronghold of the Kandyan kings against foreign power, holding out against them for about 300 years. The two main Buddhist Chapters are based here and formed the last centre of independent Buddhist thought during colonial times. Our house is located 2 kilometers away from the city center, where you can find anything you might need. The nearest ATM and supermarket are located a 15 minute walk away from our accommodation. The places to visit during your weekends or on your project holidays are the Royal Botanical Gardens, Knuckles mountain range, Udawatta kele sanctuary, Hortons plan national park and the railway museum.


Due to the length and active nature of this program, a decent level of fitness is required. Additional equipment: Shoes suitable for hiking. Open all year, starting on Mondays, arrival on Sundays and departure on Saturday morning, participation fee 126€ for 4 weeks (minimum stay). Program runs Mon-Fri, (free weekends), culture week mandatory to start the programme: 175€. Compulsory starting dates for 2017: 02/01 – 16/01 – 06/02 – 20/02 – 06/03 – 20/03 – 03/04 – 17/04 – 01/05 – 15/05 – 05/06 – 19/06 – 03/07 – 10/07 – 17/07 – 24/07 – 07/08 – 21/08 – 04/09 – 18/09 – 02/10 – 16/10 – 06/11 – 20/11 – 04/12 – 18/12.
