We work with abandoned and surrendered children between the ages of 0-12. We have 32 staff and 22 foster families taking care of about 70 children. Our programmes in adoption and foster care ensures that Institutional care is the last resort and most of our children find families. We have an informal school where about 20 of our children attend regularly And learn subjects such as math, science, languages. Our Mission statement is as follows "In accordance with God?s plan, Vathsalya is committed to finding families for homeless children, as every child deserves a permanent family of his/her own". Volunteers can spend time with children aged 0-12. They will need to think of activities and create programmes for activities for children. If they have not thought of anything they will be able to carry our infants and teach our older children. Teachers/nurses etc will make good volunteers for us.
The volunteer will live in host family in her/his own room on sharing basis. Food will be Provided by the host family.
Vathsalya is in Bangalore North about 35 k.m. from the airport. We have all facilities near the NGO such as hospitals, super markets and parks. It is an upper middle class residential area. The weather is very moderate and most of the year one can manage with light and comfortable wear.
We would prefer women who are either teachers or nurses. Others with an aptitude to care for children are also welcome. Volunteer should bring: Mosquito repellent (can be bought in Bangalore) Light warm clothes for rainy weather and winter Games, toys or ideas for activities for the children Volontariat de 8 à 16 semaines; frais supplémentaires de 400€ pour le 1er mois, puis 75€ par semaine.
