ICYE India Liza’s Home is for Mentally Challenged &Physically challenged Women. We are about 25 in numbers. We have 6-7 members of staff who look after them with a view to provided care and endure them to be self skills. We have a music teacher coming once a week to teach Vocal &Instrumental. We have a daily worship &Sunday (Morning &Evening). We have Yoga, accu pressure, Occupational therapist, ect.
Main Activities of Liza?s Home: Work shops: bead works, jewellery making, bowl making, paper bag, Cooking: pickles, jam making, peanut butter, Tailoring work: making dresses and aprons, Gardening work: seeding, planting, watering the plants ect, Once in 3 months we take them for picnic. We have medical camp conducted by Baptist hospital. Volunteer tasks: Craft work. Singing &dancing. Art work. Drawing and painting. Teaching basic English.
The volunteer will live in host project in her/his own room. Food will be Provided by the host project.
Willingness to teach and help the disabled. The participant should bring: Mosquito repellent (can be bought in Bangalore), Light warm clothes for rainy weather and winter, Games, toys or ideas for activities for the children. The ICYE programme started in India in 1983. Inter Cultural Dialogue &Exchange – India, (ICDE – India), founded in 2006 by a group of former ICYE volunteers is a secular organisation, with its main office in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Voluntary service host placements, mostly in Karnataka and adjacent South Indian states, include homes for street children, orphanages, disabled, old age homes, people with HIV/AIDS, health care, agriculture / farming, women’s projects, rural and community development, etc. ICYE India, upon request, offers opportunities to learn/study yoga, Indian music and Indian classical dance, music, herbal medicine, Indian philosophy, spirituality.
