ICYE India Sparsha trust is voluntary ,secular and non profit organization working for rehabilitation and integrated development of school drop outs, working children, street children, educationally deprived children and children in crisis in Bangalore city.
Ongoing regular activities are: Non Formal Education, Formal School Enrolment focused on Right to Education. Reintegration of street children with their parents. Enrolment campaign. Advocacy and Public sensitization about promotion of child Rights and related issues. Volunteer tasks: Content development of organization website in consultation with organization staff, Resource mobilization for ongoing need based activities of 6 centers Sparsha, Fund raising initiatives for ongoing and proposed projects of Sparsha, Teaching the enrolled children of Non Formal Education Centers of Sparsha, Monitoring and Supervision of 6 centers of Sparsha, Develop and design creative teaching aids and materials for the centers and enrolled children, Regular school visits and discussions with school authorities where our children are enrolled to assess the performance in the studies, Community visit to study situation analysis and identification of working and street children.
Volunteers are requested and will be accommodated at 6 residential centres of Sparsha and also in a rented house located near organization premises which is safe and peaceful. Food will be Provided by the host project.
Operational area (local community) of the organization has been extended to Bangalore city and also other districts of , Karnataka state. Working children who are working with respective employers, runaway children from home, street children, educationally deprived children and school drop outs are identified and enrolled in organization 6 residential centres for their rehabilitation and maim stream in the society.
Male or female who is matriculate or degree holder Should have passion, dedication and commitment to work for children’s programme Shall be compute literate Should be friendly and maintain cordial relationship with organization staffs, children and local community Proficiency in English Knowledge of local language I.E Kannada is desirable but not a must Shall have reporting and documentation skills Adoptability to local situation and Indian food. Volunteers should bring Mosquito repellent (can be bought in Bangalore), Light warm clothes for rainy weather and winter, Games, toys or ideas for activities for the children. The ICYE programme started in India in 1983. Inter Cultural Dialogue &Exchange – India, (ICDE – India), founded in 2006 by a group of former ICYE volunteers is a secular organisation, with its main office in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Voluntary service host placements, mostly in Karnataka and adjacent South Indian states, include homes for street children, orphanages, disabled, old age homes, people with HIV/AIDS, health care, agriculture / farming, women’s projects, rural and community development, etc. ICYE India, upon request, offers opportunities to learn/study yoga, Indian music and Indian classical dance, music, herbal medicine, Indian philosophy, spirituality.
