The Residential communities for minors where we would like to host volunteers, are both located in the Moncalieri area, at the very border with the City of Turin. Both communities cooperate with the Juvenile Court and local health care public facilities (including developmental psychology services and child neurology service). One of the two communities (located in Corso Trieste, 65) can host up to 7 minors aged between 6 and 17 years. The staff consists of 8 operators (one coordinator and 7 internal professional educators). The other community (Largo Da Vinci,1) can host up to 8 minors aged between 11 and 17 years and it also offers an emergency service. The staff is composed of professionals (an external coordinator, an internal reference person, 6 professional educators and one healthcare operator). Volunteers will have the opportunity to do their Project in one or both communities (very next to each other), which can give volunteers the chance to collaborate with more operators and educators and run activities with an higher number of minors and youngsters. The volunteer will play an important support role in the management of the activities of the community; the working team will provide him/her with the necessary tools and information in order to allow him/her to best experiment himself/herself in relation to the minors and youngsters, offering them additional constructive, positive moments. The volunteer will always be a support for the staff and he/she will never be alone in the management of the activities. The volunteer can suggest his/her own activities according with the organization needs, planning together timing and working methods. The volunteer’s tasks (in one or in both communities) consist of: Support the minors during their homework; Support the staff in the organization and management of indoor and outdoor recreational activities; Taking out the minors in special occasions; Support the minors during the household chores tasks as a way for promoting their “personal care” and increasing their sense of responsibility; Carrying out general errands related to minors’ needs; Building positive relations with the minors; Involvement and active participation in group activities organized inside and outside the communities. In case of working in both communities, volunteers will divide their working timetable among the two structures. Very rarely, if the volunteers feels able and is interested in, it is possible to arrange evening activities like going out, either to the cinema or to the theatre (with or without an educator) or some excursions in the week-ends (these only with the presence of operators).

The first one is Gruppo Appartamento in Moncalieri that now hosts young people that are engaged in a process of self-determination. In this building the volunteer has at disposal a single room for his/her privacy and can share common spaces with other guests (kitchen, bathroom, living room) and enjoy of all the comforts provided there. The second accommodation solution is represented by Casa Meana, located in Val di Susa. In this structure as well we offer a single room and common spaces to be shared. This structure hosts adults with problems for a limited period of time. In this case, we want to offer the volunteer the opportunity to implement activities in the same place where he/she lives in order to simplify the transfers from the accommodation to the hosting place. Food: The volunteer will be able to eat in the community, either by herself or together with the educators and will have free access to the kitchen and will receive money to buy food and various things.
