ICYE Kenya – STEPS MID TERM PROGRAMME
To help sustain education in Good Shepherd School To provide shelter, food, medical, clothing for Good Shepherd School students. Main Activities Feeding the cows Cleaning the sheds Giving medication to the cows on rotational basis. Volunteer tasks Feeding the cows Cleaning the cow sheds Record keeping Medicare Any other ideas as suggested by the volunteer.

Maralal. About 7 hours away from Nairobi city. Maralal is in Samburu District which is located in the Northern part of Kenya. It is a semi-arid area. The people are nomads and pastoralists. Nearby is the Maralal National Sanctuary. Maralal is also home to Kenyatta House, the location where the first president of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta was detained prior to his release. The famous Maralal International Camel Derby hosted by Yare Safaris is held here, and the town also serves as a base for numerous tourist activities such as bush walking, whitewater rafting and camel riding.

The ICYE programme started in Kenya in 1989. ICYE Kenya is a registered NGO. It is composed of returnees, volunteers and a two-staff team working at the national office, located in Nairobi.
Voluntary service projects include assisting teachers in rural schools, working with the disabled, with street children, in the health service, on farms and in orphanages. Participants with professional skills like psychology, carpentry, typing, nursing, agriculture or languages might have access to other types of work placements.
