The project is a dining room that seeks the improvement of the nutritional levels in poor kids in order to achieve a good physical and mental development. We attend around 125 kids between 1-12 years old everyday from Monday to Friday. – To feed children with low income. – To assist them with psychological consultancy. – To help them in their homework after the meal. The volunteer will: – Serve the lunch to the children. – Be a teacher assistant. – Help to prepare the material for the class. – Look after the children while playing.
The volunteer will live with a Mexican family. You will have your own bed and sometimes it is possible to share the room with someone else. Three meals a day will be served with the family.
The project is located in a very poor neighbourhood Nueva San Salvador in Puebla, which is beside the highway and the big industrial parks. Its population is immigrants from La Sierra Negra to the city.

ICYE was founded in Mexico in 1967. Servicio Internacional para el Intercambio Juvenil – SIIJUVE became member of the ICYE Federation in 1986. The National Committee is made up of co-workers (many former exchangees), host families and programme participants. There are five regional groups in Tuxtla Gutierrez Chiapas, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Puebla and Toluca, co-ordinated by the national office, located in Puebla.
There is a wide range of projects – from kindergartens; work with disabled, street children, to ecological projects in urban and rural areas, and rural development projects, archaeology. Practical training experiences in arts, crafts, dance, and ceramics. Attendance of university courses is possible, at participant's own expenses.
