Brief description and main aims Salé orphanage is a charity sheltering 200 orphans representing three social profiles: orphans (either having lost the two parents, or one), abandoned children, or children coming from poor families. The orphanage ensures permanently lodging, food, clothing, teaching education and vocational training. The age of the children ranges between 4 and 26. Its management is ensured by the Entraide national. The funds come mainly from the charitable organization of Salé. Main Activities The project?s principal objective is to assist the children in their daily school work and help the orphanage staff in their teaching and educational program including: – Pedagogical, cultural, and sports education. – Vocational training. – Learning and leisure. Working hours: 6 hours/ day Volunteer tasks – Assisting the children in their daily school work. – According to the special skills and hobbies of the volunteer, to work as an assistant teacher in music lessons, fine arts lessons, drama lessons etc. – Work as an assistant teacher during foreign language lessons. – To assist and participate in different clubs at the orphanage, and to produce new ideas for them. – To participate in maintaining the house – cleaning, repairing – along with teachers – To participate in daily activities of the orphanage in general. – Various assignments according to the situation; participation to activities outside the regular school work according to volunteers´interests. For example organising leisure time activities. Duration Minimum: 4 weeks Maximum: 16 weeks
The participants lodge and eat in families during the whole period. Staying with a family is a tool for CSM to give the occasion to the participants to use the Arabic language and also to discover the Moroccan way of life. All the participants are asked to respect the families’ environment and don’t behave against the local tradition; they are also asked to be sociable and are open mind so as to built good and fruitful communication with their members.
