ICYE Indonésie


SMK Islam Al – Hikmah is a private vocation school. It was found under Al – Hikmah foundation. It provides educational service under senior high school level. It aims to educate the human resource to develop work ethic and working competency, and top produce the graduates who have national identity and are able to develop local excellence and competence in global market. Main Activities SMK Islam Al-Hikmah is vocational school under senior high school level where they are focused into some different field class namely Audio-Video engineering, Mechanic Automotive Engineering, Accounting, Office Administration, Fashion, and Beauty. In this school the student have chance to learn normal class subject such as social, science, mathematics and also language (English and Indonesia) but they also have chance to learn more specific studies to prepare them in working world. The students are divided into three grades with several classes. The student ages are around 16-18 years old. Volunteer tasks – Intercultural activities through game, music, presentation, discussion and else. – Motivating the students actively using their English through interactive learning with volunteers. – Working together with teachers to collaborate in class activities. – Adapting Indonesian life and culture.


The volunteer will share his/her room and the other facilities with other host family members. Facilities are simple and Indonesian style (no hot water, no washing machine). Food is provided by a local host family.


Mayong Village, Jepara regency – Central Java.


The volunteer is encouraged to be creative, flexible, patient and independent. The volunteer is also very welcome to create new idea and method to teach the children especially English such as bringing English book on how to teach. Other supporting material such as creativities book and pictures will also be helpful. This project is not available is June, July, September and December.

ICYE Honduras was founded in 1981. The committee is run by former exchangees and volunteers. The national office, located in Tegucigalpa is run by a four-staff team.

Voluntary service placements include working with homeless and street children, disabled, children’s rights, homes for the elderly, sick or homeless people, health clinics, human rights organisations, indigenous groups, primary schools, youth organisations, and social projects in general. Attendance of university courses is allowed provided it does not interfere with voluntary service.
