Nature-based Tourism is a key focus of the park all year, it includes: camping, hikes, and overnight camps in designated mountain regions with camp facilitators. We have outreach programs for youth and the wider public and Biodiversity Conservation is a focus throughout the year. Main Activities Biodiversity Conservation Constituency building Nature-based Tourism Volunteer tasks Environmental Education Guided Interpretive Walks Footpath Maintenance Hospitality Administration Research Removal of alien vegetation.
Volunteer will have their own room but will share facilities such as kitchen, living area and ablution facilities with other volunteers and/or students. The accommodation is free and is situated within Park and in close proximity to other staff/student housing. The accommodation makes use of solar energy for lighting and gas for heating/cooking.
An open access, urban national park set within the metropolitan area of Cape Town which has a population of about 4 million people.

South Africa's first Volunteer Centre started in Cape Town in 1979, as a project of the International Year of the Child and the office opened in 1980, run at first by volunteers.
The Volunteer Centre started the cooperation with the ICYE Federation in 2007, becoming an ICYE Member in November 2009.
Volunteers placements include work with children, Volunteer Centre's satellite offices, and community development organisations in various locations in and around Cape Town, South Africa.
