The project of sport education is located in the colleges of the suburbs of the city and some colleges of the city Kpalimé. Kpalime is the fourth city of Togo with a population about 100.000 inhabitants. It is located in north-west of Lome the capital city about 120 km. It is located in the outskirts of plateaux region and surrounded in the south with Kpadape hills, in the east with mount Agou (986 m) and in the north –west with mount kloto. Kpalime is one of the most beautiful cities of Togo with a nice landscape offered by Atakora range of mountains, waterfalls and mount Agou the highest point in Togo. The city gets reputation from its green cultural setting with cool climate and its many craftsmen and artists who work there. The temperature varies between 19°C and 32°C. Besides those natural advantages, poverty is not overlooked. It is a place where cash-crops such as coffee, cocoa are produced, but because of the fall of the world costs, the agricultural sector is degrading and many famers turn to craftsmen and traders. Kpalime City also keeps some architectural vestiges of German colonial period.
To serve in the project effectively, the volunteer must be efficient and patient. S/He should have a strong interest in working with young boys and girls and possibly have previous experience of sport and physical education. Good knowledge of French is required. S/He must be able to work in the sun before a class of 50 to 75 students of different ages and backgrounds. The project does not require a given age or a particular gender from volunteers. As this type of work is emotionally and physicallydemanding, the volunteer must have a strong personality and a positive outlook. In addition, it is important that the volunteer is open-minded,responsible flexible, sportive, confidential, creative and initiative mind and able to speak in loud voice.
Campagne des Hommes (CdH) is a legally registered, non-profit organisation, founded by a group of young Togolese volunteers in 1994. Full fledged activities started in 1998. Its head office is in Kpalimé and consists of three full time staff. Its activities are mainly carried out in Kpalimé and surroundings, and in the town of Aktapamé.
Besides its local development activities, i.e. micro credit and saving bank for people of scarce resources, CdH offers long and short-term voluntary service placements in a crèche for young children, schools for deaf and blind people, education for mentally challenged youth, and an out-of-school project.
