Sports and physical education classes Main Activities Help the teachers or replace them during sports and physical education classes. They will help the teachers to keep order during the lessons, prepare students for physical exercises, supervise them to bring out sports materials and arrange them after classes. Volunteer tasks From Monday to Friday, The volunteer teaches sport to the student from 7.00 to 9.45 am, and 03.00 to 05.00 or 06.00 pm. He maintains working atmosphere until the end of his session and keep order and discipline during this period. Research and documentation: The preliminary work of the volunteer consists in: – Seeking how persons are technically taught from his sport colleagues, from his former sport teachers, in the internet or seeking necessary documentation for the every discipline he does no master. – Seeking the work material indispensable for the execution of sport activities in the school. Preparation of pedagogic slip of paper: It’s a planning method by which the volunteer on a sheet of paper plans the different stages of the courses. The volunteer makes the yearly division of the activities. On the slip are mentioned the date, discipline, the duration and the technique to be applied. The course itself:The volunteer first calls the roll and verifies the attendance of the students and start the courses by putting the students into physical condition. He then goes over the activities of the day (shot put, climbing, endurance, racing, high jump and the long jump). Finally; he organizes a discussion with them. Marks beckoning and filling up of the students report: After every activity, an assessment is organized by the volunteer in order to appreciate the performances of the students and assess themselves too. The volunteer beckons the marks and the average is put on the school report. Games and training: The volunteer invites the students to collective games such as: football, volleyball, basketball, Handball, in addition to six (6) activities. He supervises team of his school. He organizes the competitions between classes and prepares his players for the school championship.
The project of sport education is located in the colleges of the suburbs of the city The sport project of Agou is based in Gare (Gadzefe) at Prefectoral Inspection of Youth and sports and leisure activities which is situated in the enclosure of SONAPH alongside the road to Lomé.
To serve in the project effectively, the volunteer must be efficient, very patient and less impulsive. He should like working with young boys and girls. The volunteer has French course at the head office of the NGO “CAMPAGNE DES HOMMES” before been initiated by the educator of the inspection in pedagogic techniques of sport.He must be able to work in the sun before a class of 50 to 75 students of different race, of same age or sometimes more aged. The project does not require a given age or a particular sex from volunteers. The project has no sex preference for the volunteers. As this type of work is emotionally and physicallydemanding, the volunteer must have a strong personality and a positive outlook. In addition, it is important that the volunteer is open-minded,responsible flexible, sportive, confidential, creative and initiative mind and able to speak in loud voice. Nevertheless, the volunteers of 17 years old and more are recommended for their maturity.
Campagne des Hommes (CdH) is a legally registered, non-profit organisation, founded by a group of young Togolese volunteers in 1994. Full fledged activities started in 1998. Its head office is in Kpalimé and consists of three full time staff. Its activities are mainly carried out in Kpalimé and surroundings, and in the town of Aktapamé.
Besides its local development activities, i.e. micro credit and saving bank for people of scarce resources, CdH offers long and short-term voluntary service placements in a crèche for young children, schools for deaf and blind people, education for mentally challenged youth, and an out-of-school project.
