VIVENDA DES SOURDSprofessional and socio educative integration of the children stricken by hearing incapacity at Kpalime. “Ecole vivenda des Sourds” is a project initiated in 2003 by the Pastor ETIKO Tété as answer to the ultimate problem of professional and socio educative integration of the children strickenby hearing incapacity. The first objective of the project is to stop discrimination that people of the group are victim of as for as education and professional training is concerned. : Main Activities The project is established throughout the country; its main aims are to: Integrate into society through education of young people with hearing impairments . Increase their communication capacity Integrate them socially through professional training Help them to take charge of themselves as far as possible. Volunteer tasks Volunteer’s duty is to help the educators or replace them in varied activities. They will help the educators by making children assimilate the lessons transmitted to them. Volunteers will particularly help children who have difficulties in following the lessons. From Monday to Friday, volunteers will have to help to prepare lessons, they will have to respect the methodology, chose and use the teaching aids. They will help the teachers to organize different series of examinations. Volunteers actively participate in the pedagogic, supervision and replace the educators during sports and recreational activities.
The volunteer will be living with a host family that will provide board and lodging.
Ecole Vivenda des Sourds of KPALIME” is located at Kpalimé about 1km from the NGO “Campagne Des Hommes”.
The volunteer should be able to communicate in French and should be motivated to work with children, be able to work independent and to bring Enthusiasm and motivation for the project. The volunteer should be able to adopt, initiate and innovate during their stay in the project. Creativity, being spontaneous, or to have a musical sense is more than welcome. The volunteer should be matured and be ready to work. Above all the volunteer should have patience or be willing to be patient during his or her service.
Campagne des Hommes (CdH) is a legally registered, non-profit organisation, founded by a group of young Togolese volunteers in 1994. Full fledged activities started in 1998. Its head office is in Kpalimé and consists of three full time staff. Its activities are mainly carried out in Kpalimé and surroundings, and in the town of Aktapamé.
Besides its local development activities, i.e. micro credit and saving bank for people of scarce resources, CdH offers long and short-term voluntary service placements in a crèche for young children, schools for deaf and blind people, education for mentally challenged youth, and an out-of-school project.
