The kindergarten aims to provide good early childhood education to children from families of scare resources. Main Activities The project ensures full education and early childhood development of children. It offers educational and learn by play activities to children aged 3 to 5 years. The children are divided in 2 groups: the little ones (from 3- 4 years old) and the younger ones (from 4 – 5 years old). The groups are put together for physical education, sports and entertaining activities and also during meals.. Volunteer tasks The project offers a great range of activities to volunteers who bring a lot of supports to educators who, owing to heavy tasks have to work 10 hours daily, from 7.00 am to 11.30 pm and from 3.00 am 17.00 pm during 5 days from Monday to Friday. Pedagogic lessons take place individually by section. In each section, children take care to do well in collective, creative, manual activities and in graphics. The meal is served to children.
The volunteer will be living with a host family that will provide board and lodging.
Kindergarten of Kpalimé is located in the compound of Evangelical Presbyterian primary school along the road that leads to Agome Yoh. Kpalimé city is the fourth one of Togo with a population of 100 000 inhabitants. The city is in the north-west of Lomé the capital city at a distance of 120 km. It is located in the outskirts of plateaux region and surrounded in the south with Kpadape hills, in the east with mount Agou (986 m) and in the north –west with mount kloto. Kpalime is one of the most beautiful cities of Togo with a nice landscape offered by Atakora range of mountains, waterfalls and mount Agou the highest point in Togo. The city gets reputation from its green cultural setting with cool climate and its many craftsmen and artists who work there. The temperature varies between 19°C and 32°C. Besides those natural advantages, poverty is not overlooked. It is a place where cash-crops such as coffee, cocoa are produced, but because of the fall of the world costs, the agricultural sector is degrading and many famers turn to craftsmen and traders. Kpalime City also keeps some architectural vestiges of German colonial period. Kindergarten of Agou is located in Apegamé in the north-west of Lome the capital city at a distance of 110 km and 10 km in the south-west of Kpalime. It is located in the outskirts of plateaux region under the foot of the mount Agou, the highest point in Togo (986 m). Agou is one of the most beautiful cities of Togo with a nice landscape offered by Atakora range of mountains and mount Agou. The volunteer should be able to communicate in French and should be motivated to work with children, be able to work independent and to bring enthusiasm and motivation to the project. The volunteer should be able to adapt, initiate and innovate during their stay in the project. Creativity, being spontaneous, or to have a musical sense is more than welcome. The volunteer should be mature and be ready to work. Above all the volunteer should have patience and be interested in working with children.
Campagne des Hommes (CdH) is a legally registered, non-profit organisation, founded by a group of young Togolese volunteers in 1994. Full fledged activities started in 1998. Its head office is in Kpalimé and consists of three full time staff. Its activities are mainly carried out in Kpalimé and surroundings, and in the town of Aktapamé.
Besides its local development activities, i.e. micro credit and saving bank for people of scarce resources, CdH offers long and short-term voluntary service placements in a crèche for young children, schools for deaf and blind people, education for mentally challenged youth, and an out-of-school project.
