This is a registered community based organization which started to support community of HIV infected families and war victims who migrate from other parts of Uganda. The main aim of the project is to care for and support orphans of up to 12 years of age from the local community whose parents have died of HIV/Aids. The centre offers these children access education and vocational training, as well as games, sports and creative activities. Home visits to the community poor families. Taking care of children whose parents died of HIV/AIDS in the community. Helping in teaching the low privileged children in the community. Paying visit to the HIV/AIDS patients in the community. Playing with children at the school.
Stay in a host family with own room but sharing the bathroom. Meals will be African dishes, provided at the centre.
Kayunga District 75km language spoken are English, Uganda and Swahili but Luganda most spoken.
Should have interest in children, teaching, sports, home visits. 18-30 year-old, both male and female.
Uganda Volunteers for Peace (UVP) / ICYE Uganda was established in 1999. It is a non –political non-sectarian voluntary membership organization that joined the ICYE Federation in 2001. The office is located in Kampala.
Voluntary work placements are in field of social work, teaching children in school, care for needy / orphans, elderly, blind, children with HIV/AIDS and disabled.
