The demand for local English literacy has never been greater in Madagascar, English is not usually taught and academics is limited only to the local Malagasy &French Curriculum. The aim of this project is to show students that learning Basic English, the increasing Global mode of communication is accessible. You are encouraged to be creative with their methods of teaching &systems imbibed from their countries – through games, songs, art, sport and music. It is entirely up to you what you decide to teach, however there is a general syllabus for you to follow and examples of what previous participants have taught the children for you to continue with. Aims &Objectives Program Description Most people in Madagascar can’t afford to travel, and in villages like Tsararano Ambony there is little chance of contact with the outside world. Foreign teachers enable students to form relationships with someone from another background and culture, and the teachers can learn different teaching methods and techniques. You will mainly assist the regular school teacher and so do not need to have any teaching background. You will teach and educate children from different age groups and with different learning capacities. You are free to use different methods to teach. You can use the course book as reference or educate children through conversational and spoken English. During your time here you can teach them different subjects such as mathematics, history, science, geography, computer, technologies, music, arts and crafts, different educational games, spoken and conversational English, personal development, environment awareness, general health and safety and so on. All higher education in Madagascar is in French and Malagasy. So it’s vitally important to them that children must learn English as Mahajanga is also a famous tourist destination in Madagascar. Aims &Objectives To help the children grow in their confidence and learn better English which will help them in many ways in the future. Add-on: +Learning There is no +Learning add-on available for this program. Schedule Monday to Friday Primarily teach English, but also teach drama, games, music, art and foreign languages. Encourage children in academic work and promote all round development of the child. Assist teachers and other staff. Create teaching plans.
