Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN)VIN is one of the few Nepali run organizations currently operating in Nepal whose missionserves to directly empower marginalized people and promote a greater sense of voluteering.Our projects operate year round and international volunteers can feel satisfied by contributingto an organization that is working to improve the quality of life of the Nepali peopleaeuro)with anemphasis on improving education for marginalized groups such as women and children.
VINaeuros environment water sources research project is one that centers on the allocation of water within Ne- pal. VIN aims to designate interns/volunteers the job of investigating and analyzing the system. This is a particular opportunity suited for those who thrive in and learn from investigative research. According to past participants, this project is one of the best ways to uncover the truth about Nepalaeuros dysfunctional wa-ter situation.UO Set up meetings with local representatives and address water issues.UO Raise awareness among local community regarding water issues.UO Carry out research on water resources, usage (drinking, irrigation, domestic, industrial , hydro) , conflicts, water and sanitation etc.UO Write report with accompanying recommendations to alleviate water problems.
Nepali Standard at host family in the working community
Jitpur community of Kathmandu District, which is only about 11 km away from main ring road to Balaju, Kathmandu. Nuakot and Okhaldhunga, a beautiful and hilly district, is located in Everest Region of Nepal. It has limited developmental activities and facilities. From Kathmandu, the shortest bus route is about 250 km which is rough and takes one day to reach there.

VINâ€™s mission is to empower marginalised communities, with a focus on women and children,
through enhanced educational programs and community training to promote equality, economic
well-being and basic human rights.
Community Focused Programmes
VIN has a main community based pilot project in Jitpur, a rural community 11km from Kathmandu city.
The area was chosen because of its geographical location, lack of development agencies, people
interest, and its development needs. VIN has established 4 key programmes in Jitpur:
ï‚· Womenâ€™s Empowerment
ï‚· Childrenâ€™s Development
ï‚· Youth Development
ï‚· Community Health
The organizationâ€™s objective is for these programmes to be run by the Jitpur community (independently of
VIN) by 2012. Our community volunteering projects are based on around above 4 major programmes.
Out of Community Support Programmes
VIN runs a number of other volunteer placement programmes not directly related to the Jitpur community
but indirectly these programmes still contribute to our main programs. The programmes include:
ï‚· Teaching English at Buddhist monasteries / nunneries
ï‚· International journalism
ï‚· Environment, conservation and agro forestry
ï‚· Orphanage support
ï‚· Working with disable people (e.g., deaf, elderly)
