You will be working in a small organic farm where you will cro different kinds of vegetables such as tomatoes, carrots, cabbages, eggplants, peanuts, etc. Your day-to-day tasks will vary depending on the needs at the time, but you can expect to plant, water, clean and harvest the crops. The purpose of planting these vegetables will later on be cooked and utilized in our feeding project for those at the village who cannot afford a nutritious lifestyle. Moreover, we will work with local villagers by visiting their homes and planting crops, as some do have limited but just enough space to create small gardens. In this way, they will learn how to grow their own food using the least of resources by recycling items such as pots and bottles. Aims &Objectives: To support poor local villagers who lack the means to afford nutritious food and promote organic farming and self-sustainability.

You will be accommodated in our center which provides shared rooms with 4 – 8 people per room and a shared toilet. There are cold showers available and flushing toilets. The accommodation is quite basic. There are limited laundry facilities so expect to wash your clothes by hand. There is Wifi available at the center. All participants are expected to be environmentally aware and to use all resources with restraint, especially water, paper and electricity. You will be expected to clean up after yourself, and to play your part to keep the accommodation neat and organized. The accommodation covers 6 nights and 7 days, so arrival is on Sunday and departure is on Saturday at noon 12:00 Three meals will be provided during weekdays (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and two meals during weekends (breakfast and dinner). The food will be typically Rwandan, which has a lot of potatoes, corn, beans, vegetables, meats, eggs, breads, etc.

You will be accommodated in Nezerwa, a rural village in the outskirts of Kigali. Being here will allow for the best of both worlds as you will get the chance to experience the authentic ruralness of Rwanda while having the capital close by for getaways at the same time! Our center is located in rural Rwanda. This means facilities are limited. However, there are many local shops located within a 5-10 minute walk from our center. Moreover, there are motorbike taxis as well as local buses which depart every 15 minutes and will take you to Kigali City, where you can find ATM’s and anything else you might need such as restaurants, bars, nightclubs, etc. Not so far from our center is Kigali City, where you can enjoy nights out or head to a good restaurant. For those looking to get the most out of the time in Rwanda, there is a national park nearby where you can head to on a weekend to trek, camp and spot gorillas. Moreover, popular beaches are not too far either.

Additional equipment: Clothes that cover your shoulders and legs down to your knees for your time at the farms. Open all year, starting on Mondays, arrival on Sundays and departure on Saturday morning, participation fee 175€ per week, participation fee of the culturel week: 210€, mandatory to start the programme. Program runs Mon-Fri, (free weekends). Reception at Kigali International Airport (KGL) on Sundays.
