Project description: Environmental Leadership Program is a an Initiative that is expected to offer community members and mostly young men and young women unique opportunity to develop the full potential and transform promising community members into its next generation of ethical, engaged and empowering leaders. This project focuses on developing the talents and potential leadership skills of its participants in the context of their individual environment as well the community as a whole. Project activities: Participants of the project will join the selected members of the community to participate in following activities/ Components of the project. ? Workshops: The workshops offer exciting new insights into leadership principles and practices will be presented by experienced leaders from various sectors that are skilled at translating principles and concepts into practical ideas and techniques. You will be exposed to cutting edge research into leadership, as well as into brain functioning and how leaders can best support and encourage your community, and will leave the workshops with the skills to implement improvements in your own leadership practice. Topics will be selected based on the realities of the local community and the foreign participants. ? Workplace Project/Educational tour: Participants of the project will have an opportunity to join the local community members (Those in the program) on their daily community work and share some practical realities. This will be in the sectors of local Government Management, Local community Schools, Businesses, Social and cultural activities. This activity will provide and give new and emerging leaders the opportunity to embed their learning and put their new knowledge into practice. ? Community Service (Hands-on activities): Participants will work with community members on environmental cleaning, tree planting, renovation of public open spaces and community facilities.


Accommodation: Participants will be accommodated at the student’s hostel and tents. Clean water and electricity will be available. Food: Food will be provided for free at the project. Participants with special dietary requirements should inform us well in advance. Participants are expected to help in preparation of the meals and cleaning with the support of the Kitchen staff. Note: Food will be provided only at the project site.


Location: The project will be hosted in Dodoma. Dodoma mean sunk in gogo language the indigenous people of the region. It is officially the National capital of Tanzania with the population of approximately 410,956. The town is 453km west of the former capital at Dar es Salaam and 441km south of Arusha City. Free time activities: The project is organized in a way that provides opportunity for participants to utilize their free time by enjoying what the region offers in terms of cultural and natural attractions. Possibilities are Capital city sight seen, Kondoa Irangi rock painting, wild life safari, cultural-eco tourism among many options.


Special Requirements: No special or particular expertise/skills required; however a potential Participant for this project should be the one who is social, flexible open minded and independent, interested in cultures, Peace Health issues, travelling, flexible, interested in manual/ outdoor activities and able to work under less supervision. Language: The official language of this project is English and Kiswahili. You do not have to be fluent. Terminal: Participants of this project will be picked up at Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam) or any of the Bus or Railway stations in Dar es Salaam. Extra Fee: Participation fee of €250 or equivalent Tanzanian shillings to be paid on arrival day. Participation fee does not cover the cost of medical/health services, all types of insurances, cost of transport to the project after the orientation, relevant Visas or permits, airport drop off on departure date, pocket money, free/leisure activities and other personal expenses. However; participation fee does cover the cost of airport pickups on arrival, orientation on arrival, food and accommodation during the program and general running cost of the project.
