partner Brief description and main aims: Main objectives of the Charity Centre for Refugees are to provide cultural, moral and material assistance to refugees and asylum seekers; to help them to integrate in the Moldovan society. ~ Main Activities: CCR’s main activities are services to refugees and asylum seekers in the Republic of Moldova, so that they could come and discuss their common interests and problems, participate in different events, meetings, seminars, etc; CCR organises entertaining activities for refugees and asylum seekers and their children like the International Women’s Day, the International Children’s Day, Refugee Day, New Year party, Christmas, the 50th Anniversary of UNHCR, birthdays of refugees; CCR hosts the general meetings of the Representative of UNHCR Branch Office in the Republic of Moldova with refugees and asylum seekers in the presence of other local and international entities; CCR carries out ecological activities with the participation of refugees and asylum seekers; CCR provides Romanian, Russian and English language classes to refugees and asylum seekers and their children; CCR provides refugee children with a room equipped with furniture and toys; CCR organizes excursions for refugee children and their mothers on the territory of Chisinau city (to museums, zoo, etc.). work Volunteer tasks: The volunteer is expected to work five days a week, not more than 35 hours a week (6 hours per day), with two days off, normally Saturdays and Sundays. Typical working day of the volunteer could consist of following activities: – education 20% : language classes – computer courses – study help for the school children – general social orientation subjects; – recreation 65%: music – pottery- sports – events – activities for specific target groups (children, women, men, ) – library &internet; – individual assistance 15%: every social worker has a close contact with a certain number of refugees. The volunteer can decide for him/herself (in consultation with the project supervisor) what talents can be used for a personal project. Volunteer can also take part in coordinating youth exchange programmes run by host-coordinating organization ADVIT/ICYE Moldova: helping with new coming volunteers, taking part in local projects, assisting in interviewing national volunteers who want to participate in youth exchange programmes out of Moldova.
There are different types of accommodation: – Your own bedroom in the project, with access to a shared bathroom and kitchen. – Host family. – Flat out side of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together. Accomodation will depend on the availability of the places at the time of your application. Volunteers receive food allowance.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS: Volunteer should be motivated to work in a multi-cultural atmosphere. The volunteer should be able to work independently and to cope with the existing social and cultural differences in Moldova and refugee community. For these reasons, characteristics such as flexibility, adaptability, maturity and personal motivation will be highly desired. ~ ADDITIONAL INFO : What you need to bring with you: – Bed clothes and towels. – Warm clothes and good, waterproof shoes in case of winter. – Some information about your country: pictures, maps, books, coins, recipes, etc. – Small gifts from your country to give to people in your host project. ~ DURATION : Minimum stay is 4 weeks, maxi 16 weeks. Extr fee of 400 € is for 4 weeks; each additional week is 100 €. Placement on this project is individual (placement is for 1 or 2 volunteers at the same time).
