During this program, you will partake in the day-to-day operations of a childcare facility. Not only will this give you an insight into authentic Filipino life, but you will also get engaged into the day-to-day operations of the kindergarten. The kindergarten is located in the Tigman area of Palawan and the children who attend are between the ages of 3 and 5. Your primary task will be to communicate with the children using English and teaching them the language in a fun way. Besides teaching, you will also support the local staff with the caretaking of the children. This task can range in activities, from organizing classes, playing games and guiding activities to feeding, cutting nails, combing hair and so on. The children are always interested in learning more about foreign lands and you are encouraged to bring pictures from your country, friends, family, etc or objects that highlight your culture in order to promote intercultural exchange. The children will learn from you, but you will also leave the project having learned from them! Aims &Objectives: Widen the Island children’s cultural interactions Give you invaluable, practical experience in teaching, Assist the local staff by providing an extra handj Schedule : Monday to Friday : Breakfast, Arrange activities with the children (game, song, colorin, writing, basic English teaching) and support the local kindergarten staff with disciplining, managing and caretaking. Lunch, Preparing activities for the next day. Dinner. ***Schedule may change due to the needs of the project or other local conditions***


Standard Accommodation : This center houses all participants in their programs around Palawan. It is built with many natural elements and have a tropical beach look to them! You’ll be sleeping on bunk beds and we have limited laundry facilities, so expect to wash your clothes by hand, unless you’d like to use the laundry service here for a small fee. — Food arrangements : The food will consist mainly of local Philippine cuisine (lots of vegetables, meat, egg and rice) and will be served on site at this accommodation. 3 meals on weekdays, 2 on weekends. Facilities : There are many forms of local transportation such as jeepneys, buses and vans which depart every hour to the town of Aborlan or to the next town Narra. There are ATM’s &Western Union transfers available in the town of Nara which is about 30 minutes away by car. Here, you can also find all necessary amenities.


Location Palawan is a special island dotted with fishing villages and surrounded by beautiful blue sea. The scenes contrasts perfectly with the emerald green jungled mountains which form its landscape. Our accommodation is located in Tigman Village in Aborlan District, a small and laid back area just outside of Puerto Princesa City.


Additional equipment Optional: You are more than welcome to bring teaching materials/resources for your class! Modest clothing (covering the knees and shoulders) is required for school You should wear normal shoes or sandals, no flip-flops are allowed
