The Construction and Renovation project supports small village communities in and around Taiping. It aims to build and renovate buildings that are essential for the growth and development of the local community. We generally work on schools, centres, playgrounds and public libraries and support local families by improving living conditions. Our project helps relieve them of some of the stress and pressure that they are living under. Participants work under a local foreman (coordinator) who provides guidance and training alongside local families and other participants. The project involves hard physical and manual labor, as you will be laying bricks, doing carpentry, painting, laying tiles, and landscaping/gardening. All information about the project and various activities will be provided to you by our local coordinator on arrival. Participants will not be given project preference and are required to join ongoing and existing projects or carry out other construction and renovation work as required by the local community.

Taiping is a town located in Larut, Matang and Selama District, Perak, Malaysia. Taiping took over Kuala Kangsar’s role as the state capital from 1876 to 1937, but was then replaced by Ipoh. Its growth slowed down after that, but in recent years the town has been developing rapidly again. Perak State Museum is located in the town. Taiping also receives some limelight for being the wettest town in Peninsular Malaysia. The average annual rainfall is about 4,000mm in Taiping while the peninsula’s average is 2,000mm – 2,500mm. Its unusual rainfall has also led to a fertile collection of flora and century-old rain trees in the Taiping Lake Gardens.
