I giardini di Pomona is a research center for bio-diversity conservation and sustainability. The aim of the center is to promote the conservation of bio-diversity and historic and natural heritage. In particular we research ancient varieties of fruit trees and we host one of the largest collection in the world of Ficus Carica –figs-. The center organizes environmental education and advocacy. It is an experimental field for permaculture and dry-agriculture.

Volunteers will help in the maintenence of a Food Forest following principles of Permaculture and dry-agriculture. They will also help picking the olives and in the daily management of the Botanical Gardens.

Shared flat with one shared toilet, hot shower and common kitchen.

The center is located in the valley of Itria, one of the most beautiful spot of the region, characterized by “trulli” typical houses. The valley is rich in history and the countryside is sweet and wonderful for those who love walking in the nature. There is a bicycle path for those who like to cycle along the aqueduct. There are many small towns in the proximity of the center where you can find typical markets well-known for the food and culinary tradition. The Adriatic sea is 20 km away from “i giardini di Pomona”.
