Baikal is the largest sweet-water lake in the world. It is the UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is situated in the south of Siberia. Host organization is a national park Pribaikalski. Aim of the project is to restore the tourist path between the train station and the village. Social meaning of the path is really high since it is the only way which connects the village and the rail way.

PRE-CAMP DAYS: Pre-camp days include a journey over a half of the territory of Russia on the Transsiberian railway – the longest rail route on the world. The journey will start in Moscow and end in Irkutsk (Siberia) near the largest and the deepest sweet water lake Baikal. The length of the route is 6000 km or 3700 miles. The train travels through 5 time zones and takes 7 days to complete with making overnight stops. On the way, participants will stop in different cities of Russia (such as Kazan – a city 1000 years old in the Republic Tatarstan, Ekaterinburg – the big historical city on the border between Europe and Asia in Ural mountains, etc). Dates of the journey 20.07.-27.07.2017 Participation fee covers train tickets and partly a ticket of the campleader (one way) – 210 Euro. Additional costs for living, accommodation and excursions participants have to cover by themselves. in tents on the territory of a summer camp for kids in the village Staraya ANgasolka (3 people per 1 tent. male and female separated). Cooking: on fire. Please take with you a sleeping bag and a mattress. If you d like to sleep in your own tent – it will be great if you ll take one with you, otherwise a tent will be shared with 2-3 participants.
Circum-Baikal Express trip is a must-have journey for Baikal first-timers. Volunteers can join a walking tour along the railway that goes on the bank of the Baikal lake and observe breathtaking views on the Baikal historical railway – the miracle of engineering skills. The group can visit museum of Roerich – the Russian philosopher, traveler and painter of Himalaya and Tibet, the mysterious searcher of shambhala. The volunteers will surely take a tour in the Pribaikalski national park on the tourist path they will restore.
MOTIVATION LETTER is needed! Vaccination against encephalitis is obligatory – take care of it in advance, 2-3 months before the project start! Please take with you a sleeping bag and a mattress! Make sure that your insurance is valid in Russian Federation. If you’d like to sleep in your own tent – it will be great if you’ll take one with you, otherwise a tent will be shared with 2-3 participants.
