Volunteer for Peace Vietnam


The community school for children from poor back ground (project 1). *This community school was founded &sponsored by a local buddish pagoda for more than 30 years and now became a “school of love”. The school care for babies and abandoned children and also provide some basic education for poor children who have no chance to go to any school. There are about 20 babies who are between 1-6 years old; 110 kids who are between 6-12 years old. For children who are at school of Love, their background is very basic (for some cases are quite poor); their English level is also very beginning. The orphanage &school of love run by supporting from individual donors, and VPV will participate to support this charity work. Project’s Activities *To care for children: -Teach soft skills , basics English through activities &care for children at school of love -Do some manual works which will help for orphanage, such as: prepare foods for children, gardening, cleaning orphanage Volunteers will work about 4-8 hours a day. Participants should have motivation to work with under-privileged children and not be afraid to get their hands dirty and do physically demanding work. Generally, volunteers are required to be flexible, self-managed and inventive &creative. *Volunteer’s Tasks *For education : Volunteers will have responsibility for a class. Volunteers should prepare activities that are suitable for kids. (For example : drawing, sing, dancing, flashmob,ect).Make sure every kids has chance to join activities. Volunteers can teach kids basic English. *For Labor work: Volunteers can help to preparing food for children, washing dishes and gardening. Working time: from Monday to Friday (9 a.m to 4.30 p.m). – Phuoc Phuc social welfare center (Project 2): *Project’s Activities: The center is a project set up and sponsored by a local worker who has great heart and love for children (Uncle Phuc). When he see many abandoned children in Nha Trang, he bring them home and care for them as his children. His family also taking care for many pregnant woman who has no husband and living in such difficult economic situation and have no place to stay. After having birth, those women will leave the child at his house. He continues to take care the child and the child called him as father and his wife as mother and be sister/brother with his real children. For some cases, the women come back after a few years. He will support the child to be back with the mother. After 10 years, he took care for nearly 80 orphan and abandoned children, support for more than 50 pregnant woman. In beginning years, he and his family and have worked very hard to find the income to cover for children. Recently years, some NGOs and charity foundation have came and support him partly. At the moment, there are about 25 children and about 5 pregnant woman are living in his house. *Volunteer’s Tasks: Volunteers will have responsibility for a class. After finishing public school, children will come back house at 4.30 p.m. Volunteers should prepare activities that are suitable for kids. (For example : drawing, sing, dancing, flashmob,ect). Volunteers can teach kids basics English. Working time: from 4.30 p.m til 5.30 p.m. (Since children go to school in the day-time)


-Local travel, accommodation and Bus tickets included. -Volunteers will be accommodated in a Hostel. There will be 4 people in one room. -Breakfasct at hostel, lunch at project and diner at restaurant near by.


Nha Trang is a coastal city and capital of Khánh Hòa Province, on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. The population is 402.000 people. Nha Trang is well known for its beaches and has developed into a popular destination for international tourists, as well as more affluent travelers on the south-east Asia circuit; it is already very popular with Vietnamese tourists, with Nha Trang Bay widely considered as among the world’s most beautiful bays.


Volunteers must be 18 years old minimum. Volunteers must show eagerness, creativity and enthusiastic. Related to this, volunteers need to show creativity and initiative when planning and taking classes. Most importantly, volunteers need to have confidence in the classroom and time management skills to ensure an effective lesson. Volunteers also have to be pro-active in physical labor work. Volunteers must have the mindset to prepare for sudden changes and new work tasks. Volunteers are required to learn how to take up the leader role.
