The association Jaunatne smaidam / Youth for Smile is a non-profit non-governmental youth organization established in 2005. Our organization s mission says that we are a strong and value-based children and youth non-governmental organization that in achieving its goals, objectives and basic principles acts as impetus for the strengthening of the basic principles of civil society. Our main aim is to unite children and youth to promote their participation in non-formal education in order to develop their skills and abilities to take part actively in social processes at local, national and international levels. All our activities coincide with our values such as fairness and equality; mutual understanding and tolerance; active and healthy way of living; the development of personality; understanding and a creative atmosphere; environment-friendly behaviour. Our target group is children and youth in Bauska, Iecava, RundAle and Vecumnieki municipalities. Within our strategy, we point out five directions of our activities.
In 2010 YOUTH FOR SMILE started to work on the development of the outdoor education centre. As we work mainly with outdoor education methods and adventure pedagogic methods it is necessary to have a camp place for trainings and seminars. Besides, our scouting and guiding groups need a place for practical learning. In the outdoor education centre we plan to make low and high ropes routes, different tracks for team building and learning scouts and guides arts. Volunteers will help to clean the territory of the planed outdoor education centre aeuro( it is a forest and a meadow. We have a plan to build as well a camp fire place, toilets, educational tracks, etc. Cleaning work will include cutting shrubs, cleaning a ditch, mowing grass etc.
Living conditions are very basic. The volunteers will be accommodated in the building of the youth house. Sometimes it could be necessary to stay in tents if the work requires. Toilets and washing facilities will be provided. Cooking will be done by volunteers themselves in the kitchen or on a campfire. Volunteers should bring their sleeping bags.
Work camp will be organized in Vecumnieki municipality. The Vecumnieki municipality borders with Iecava, Bauska, Nereta, Aegums, Baldone and Jaunjelgava municipalities and the Republic of Lithuania. The municipal territory consists of Kurmene, Valle, BArbele, Skaistkalne, Stelpe and Vecumnieki parishes. The administrative centre of the municipality is Vecumnieki located 50 km from RA)ga and 30 km from Bauska.During a work camp we will have possibilities to visit different cultural and historical places. Volunteers will have possibilities to organise intercultural events, etc.
All our activities are close with our values: fairness and equality; mutual understanding and tolerance; active and healthy way of living; development of personality; understanding and creative atmosphere; be friend of environment.
