Association "Fakiri sa juga" is a non-profit organization based in Krusevac, engaged in activities to promote art and culture for young people, which, by the words of this organisation Krusevac is greatly lacking.
The aim of this project is to enable the Alternative Cultural Center which will, in the spirit of the times in which we live, enable creative activity of young people, show the ways in which computers, projectors, lighting and other modern media can help young people discover and use their creative potential and meet the requirements of modern audience. The local municipality office in Bivolje supported our initiative and ceded an abandoned building for the project. The workcamp will bring together young people from different countries to exchange ideas and work together on the renovation of the building that will become a place for creative activities of young people. The volunteers will help clearing the ground that belongs to the building (cutting grass, branches and bushes, cleaning garbage) and comes all the way down to the river, do minor repairs of the facade, paint woodwork, interior walls as well as repairing and redesigning old furniture.
The volunteers will be accommodated in a house, the social center for young people, with kitchen and common toilets and bathrooms, in double rooms. It is necessary to bring a sleeping bag. The volunteers will independently prepare meals from food that will be provided by the organizer. The house is located near the workplace.
Krusevac is a city located in Central Serbia, on the river Rasina and has about 75,000 residents. In the Middle Ages, it was the capital of Serbia. One day of the workcamp will be reserved for visiting nearby locations: Lake Celije and Jastrebac Mountain. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the rich cultural and historical heritage of the city of Krusevac. We will hold discussions and workshops on the possibilities of abandoned spaces converted into useful ones.
