The goal of the group “fRilingue” is to offer teenagers (age: 13 – 17 years) a new Camp in Saint-Imier (BE). The aim of “fRilingue” – Video-Theater-Camp is to combine language courses (French/ German) in the morning with theatre/video workshops in the afternoons. Three afternoons a week will be dedicated to really start acting, experiment on stage and learn how the voice and body can be used creatively to transform the actor. For those who prefer to make videos, you will be able to play for a short movie, film it and edit it properly. There will be some special programmes in the nights and on the weekends. The youngsters will learn outside or in tents if the weather is bad.
The main work of the volunteers will be the preparation of the daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Together with a cook they organise the menu schedule, do the shopping. Volunteers will also do housekeeping. – In the afternoon volunteers will support the youngsters during their theatre &video workshops.
The volunteers will sleep in tents or in dormitories. It is simple, but there is a kitchen, toilets and showers.
Saint-Imier (BE) is a picturesque village in the Canton of Berne. It is situated in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (mountain chain in Switzerland). It is and was always a very important place for watch makers. The factory Longines for example is located in Saint-Imier. Discovering the charming region of the picturesque watchmaker village Saint-Imier, the Jura, Mont Soleil with its fascinating wildlife and nature – ideal for nature lovers, families and sports lovers! Twice a week, volunteers will accompany the adolescents on an afternoon journey to the close by region. On the weekends longer excursions are planned. The evenings will involve social events where the volunteers can participate and enjoy.
It would be helpful if volunteers know how to prepare a meal for a bigger group. Volunteers should also be interested in theatre and video (if possible have some skills). We are looking for mature persons. The international Workcamps consist of small groups of three Volunteers, additionally they will work together with Swiss Volunteers from fRilingue. If you are interested to be a part of this workcamp please send a motivation letter and an example of your theatre/video work. Age: 20+!
Workcamp Switzerland was founded as an association in 2004. It is politically and confessional neutral. Workcamp is now (since November 2012) a full member of the international network “Alliance of European Voluntary Services Organisation”.
Since 2011 year Workcamp Switzerland wants to integrate people with any kind of social, physical or mental deficits. We experienced in our Workcamps that it’s a benefit for all participants to mix people with different backgrounds in a practical, non formal environment. For young adults with any kind of handicap the beneficial work can be a chance to get into a working process and to strengthen the self confidence. That’s why we open our projects for Volunteers with fewer opportunities and support the initiative “Access 4 All”.
