Young Researchers of Bor is a non–governmental organization founded in 1976, which gathers youth interested in volunteering, scientific and research work in the natural and social sciences, ecology and protection of the environment. It used to be a branch of YRS-VSS. Their activities are realized through research projects and programs, schools, ecological camps, etc. The workcamp is a joint initiative of several local partner organizations working together on introducing the spirit of volunteerism as well as developing and improving rural and eco–tourism. Also, the goal is to motivate local people to be active in different ecological activities. The tradition of past dozen international workcamps continues proudly even this year. Bor is an industrial city, one of the biggest polluters in Serbia. This is why the local partner aims to present a clear picture of ecological awareness of Bor and the surrounding area and to raise ecological awareness of local population as well as the participants of the workcamp. Young Researchers of Bor are one of the contact points of YRS–VSS for the international volunteer’s exchange.

The volunteers will work on the renovation and marking of hiking trails on the mountain Stol, they will renovate a little pond mountain picnic place using sand paper, paint and hand tools for work. One working day the volunteers will spend in the village of Luka, where they will work together with the locals on renovation and cleaning of the village. Volunteers will participate in the celebration of the International Youth Day (12 August) in Bor.

The volunteers will be accommodated in the mountain hut with a dining room, a kitchen, toilets and showers. Meals will be provided by the organizers. If someone would like to bring their own tent, there is a suitable place for it.

The village Luka cherishes cultural and artistic tradition and is rich in preserved folk customs. During the free time volunteers will attend workshops and lectures and will have the opportunity to visit the town of Bor.
