PARTENAIRE

Organized together with is ‘Akame no Satoyama wo Sodateru Kai’(ASSK), a local environmental NPO, since 1998. In an area between Osaka and Nagoya, there were plans for a golf course and disposal of industrial garbage, but the local community has stopped them with the ‘Woods Trust’ movement. The group was formed in 1996 to collect donations to buy and protect the land, to build an eco-resort to enjoy nature, to maintain forests, to create a pond for dragonflies, etc

TRAVAIL

Organi zed together with E-Wasa (EW) from 2015. It means good Japanese tea and i s a local NPO created in 2012 to organi ze agricultural events , support people who l ive in Wazuka as new tea farmers . Short term workcamps are hos ted every year s ince 2001 by other local group. One of tea farmers who was camp leader in the workcamp in Wazuka was fas cinated, so became a tea farmer here. Then, he es tabl i shed EW for future of Wazuka. Wazuka i s famous for green tea (cal led Uji -cha, but they want to PR as Wazuka-cha), but has been facing depopulation, lack of workers and aging society s ince mos t of youth leave the town. So, the number of abandoned tea farms are increas ing and the town i s los ing i ts tradi tion, l i fe, cus tom and s cenery. EW hopes to hos t vol s . to work together to animate the town and revive the tea farms . — Study Theme : Volunteers will get knowledge of green tea, Matcha.

Single room at the volunteer’s house. Cooking by themselves.

SITUATION

We have opportunities to show your culture in school. Participation in the local events etc. Sightseeing, short trip (temples, shirines famous places in Nara and Kyoto). — About 80 km from the center of Osaka. Most of the peninsula was designated as a quasi-national park.It was selected as “one pf the most beautiful villages in Japan” 2013. A famous landscape known as the "Beautiful Tea farms" It is called “Cha-genkyo”.

Speaking some Japanese, strong motivation to work with the host, respect of the local customs and life, open mind and flexibility. — Language : English and Japanese. Local host can speak English. — 12,000 yen per one month to be paid on their arrivals. — If you want to end on another day (either shorter or longer), please choose among the following dates and clearly write on your application form; 05/14, 07/02, 08/06, 09/23, 10/29, 12/15 – 6,000 yen per month from the 4th month — From Osaka/Kyoto: 1 hour and a half by train and bus. It is located near Nara. From Tokyo: 2 hours by bullet train then 1 hour and half by train and bus.
