Journalist Centre (JC) is NGO that provides assistance to journalists and media institutions in Moldova. JC runs Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism is conceived on the basis of advanced graduate journalism programs from all of the world. — Journalism Centre sees its mission in supporting professional journalism and aims at contributing to the consolidation of a qualitative, independent and impartial press
Volunteers support JC staff in preparation and during lessons of School of Advanced journalism: preparation of the materials, moderation of a weekly discussion club for advanced English-language students from the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism, which includes inviting guests, preparing topics and homework, writing thank you letters, proof reading of the texts and the “mass media in Moldova” bulletin, assisting in training programs for journalists and trainers from different media, with the participation of foreign and local experts, helping in organization of the annual survey “Ten Journalists of the Year”, helping in maintaining web portal www.azi.md, keeping the library; Working hours: 4-6 hours/day.
There are different types of accommodation: 1/ A bedroom in the host family; 2/A bedroom in a flat out side of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together. It depends on the availability of the places for the time of your application. Volunteers receive food allowance.
Project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova – Chisinau. Chisinau is the main administrative, economic, scientific and cultural centre of Moldova. The city has just over 700,000 inhabitants and the whole metropolitan area is roughly one million inhabitants. In terms of number of inhabitants, Chisinau is the largest city of the country. Chisinau is divided in five administrative sectors; Botanica, Buiucani, Center, Ciocana and Riscani. It is often referred to as the greenest city in Europe due to the high proportion of well maintained green spaces. —
