National Ethnographical and Natural History Museum was found in October 1889 Baron A. Stuard and is the oldest museum in Moldova, which during the XXth century was a research laboratory for many famous scientists like: F. Osterman, S. Milec, F. Porucik, I. Suhov, B. Tarabuchin, M. Pocoara and others. The museum was built in 1905 in the oriental style, thus being a unique building of this kind in Moldova. The Museum is known for its rich geology, ethnography, palaeontology, zoological, entomology, archaeology and numismatic collections. — The museum, through history, has kept its two specific directions: Nature and Cultural Studies of Moldova – that’s why it was named as the National Museum of Natural History, Regional Museum of Basarabia and The National Museum of Studies of the Republic. Now, next to those 10,000 objects in this collection, visitors can see the whole skeleton of a Dinosaur Gigantisimus, famous archaeological treasures, Basarabian national carpets of the XIXth century and much more.
Tasks of the volunteer will be 1/ Educational Department 40%: Give guided tours to / English speaking groups (after on the job training which the museum supplies), Assisting in the workshops by showing visitors how to use the various tools and implements for the handcrafts in the Museum; 2/ Public Affairs Department 10%: Help with the planning of group reservations; 3/ Communication Department 20%: Assistance with general Museum PR and Marketing and with temporary exhibitions 4/ Maintaining the database of the exhibits. Fundraising 20%; 5/ Technical Department 10% (max.): If appropriate, small technical assistance. The activities are also connected with archaeology. In the excavations the volunteers will help in the elaboration of drawings, photos, excavation (recover ancient objects that testify the ancient societies that lived in this place before we did) and other methods used in this activity.

Project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova – Chisinau. Chisinau is the main administrative, economic, scientific and cultural centre of Moldova. The city has just over 700,000 inhabitants and the whole metropolitan area is roughly one million inhabitants. In terms of number of inhabitants, Chisinau is the largest city of the country. Chisinau is divided in five administrative sectors; Botanica, Buiucani, Center, Ciocana and Riscani. It is often referred to as the greenest city in Europe due to the high proportion of well maintained green spaces. —
