The major aim of IDOM is to contribute to the education, promotion and defence of rights and liberties guaranteed by national and international legislation. Moldovan Institute for Human Rights (IDOM)is an independent, non-profit organization founded by a group of lawyers and defenders of human rights. The members of IDOM are experienced in monitoring the respect for human rights and the honouring of obligations, which the Republic of Moldova accepted before the OSCE, the United Nations and the Council of Europe. — Main Activities: Monitoring of diverse state institutions in order to track and practically eliminate the abuse of human rights, judicial consultation on human rights issues, analysis of the legal framework, strategic litigation (at national and international instance (European Court of Human Rights, UN Committees and others), public policy analysis, human rights education, lobbying.
Writing applications and managing projects: seminars, study visits, conferences – Following Human Rights developments in the Moldovan society – Helping out with IDOM newsletter and the updating of the IDOM website – Assisting in finding partners and creating new projects in the Europe and the rest of the world – Assisting with research projects – Managing a clear-cut project in line with his/her skills, personal interests and goals. – Working hours: 4-6 hours/day
There are different types of accommodation: 1/ A bedroom in the host family; 2/ A bedroom in a flat out side of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together. It depends on the availability of the places for the time of your application. – Volunteers receive food allowance
Project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova – Chisinau. Chisinau is the main administrative, economic, scientific and cultural centre of Moldova. The city has just over 700,000 inhabitants and the whole metropolitan area is roughly one million inhabitants. In terms of number of inhabitants, Chisinau is the largest city of the country. Chisinau is divided in five administrative sectors; Botanica, Buiucani, Center, Ciocana and Riscani. It is often referred to as the greenest city in Europe due to the high proportion of well maintained green spaces.
To be actively involved in the tasks, such as participation at seminars, meetings, research, project preparation and management. – To be curious about the European integration process. – Strong English skills, spoken and written. – Personal initiative and motivation to develop the assigned tasks and flexibility in time management. – Ability to adapt to a new cultural/social/economic context and to work in a sometimes stressful environment. – Good English and communication skills. — Check list –what you need to bring with you: Bed clothes and towels; Warm clothes and good, waterproof shoes in case of winter; Some information about your country: pictures, maps, books, coins, recipes, etc; Small gifts from your country to give to people in your host project. — 400 EUR one month, 100 EUR for every additional week.
