Green Lion

You will be playing the role of teaching assistant inside a college. For this, you do not need to prepare a lot of teaching materials before hand, we prefer you to be spontaneous and creative throughout the day! The students here are always keen to improve their English and welcome foreigners into their culture and to show you their way of life. You will regularly attend the classes and have maximum interaction with the students throughout the day. You will be able to spend your free time during the evenings and weekends with the friends you will make throughout your stay. And by the end of your program, you will receive a certificate highlighting your achievements during your English teaching program!. How does it work? Each participant will have an English speaking language partner (or ‘buddy’) selected from Cunjin College students. This ‘buddy’ will be responsible for looking after the participant 24/7. Beyond the program, this is often a great chance to develop life-long friends. How can you contribute? You will not only participate in (English speaking) lectures – if you wish, you can deliver a lecture relevant to your own area of study or expertise. It is common to host a discussion with students about the participants’ home countries and share their culture and lives with Chinese students too! What else will you do? – Learn how to make pottery/ Chinese traditional knitting – Learn Taichi as a Chinese Martial Art. – Learn how to make dumplings professionally – And more!

About the Accommodation You will live in the student dormitory in Guangdong Ocean University Cunjin College or its nearby dorm halls. You can expect that outside in public areas your wifi signal will be good, like in the office and halls, but many prefer to buy a network card at shops for internet access from your dormitory room. Please expect to use squatting toilets during our stay here (a natural, healthier alternative!). Food Arrangements Three typical Chinese meals a day are provided and served at the dining hall. For dinner, we usually offer noodles and fried rice which foreign students seem to enjoy. A vegetarian option is also available.
