THE GREEN LION
Most people in Madagascar can’t afford to travel, and in villages like Tsararano Ambony there is little chance of contact with the outside world. Foreign teachers enable students to form relationships with someone from another background and culture, and the teachers can learn different teaching methods and techniques. You will mainly assist the regular school teacher and so do not need to have any teaching background. You will teach and educate children from different age groups and with different learning capacities. You are free to use different methods to teach. You can use the course book as reference or educate children through conversational and spoken English. During your time here you can teach them different subjects such as mathematics, history, science, geography, computer, technologies, music, arts and crafts, different educational games, spoken and conversational English, personal development, environment awareness, general health and safety and so on. All higher education in Madagascar is in French and Malagasy. So it’s vitally important to them that children must learn English as Mahajanga is also a famous tourist destination in Madagascar.
About the Accommodation In our center, there is a dining room, a lounge area where you can hang out with fellow participants and a beautiful garden to relax. Balcony and a large roof terrace is also available for you spend some quality time. Furthermore, there is a refrigerator which you are welcome to use to store food and beverages. Food Arrangements The meals are a mix of Western and Malagasy food, consisting mainly of vegetarian dishes including rice and vegetables. You can expect to have a chicken dish about twice per week. You can also use the kitchen facilities to cook for yourself or eat out at any of the local restaurants at your own expense.
Mahajanga is located in the region of Atsimo-Andrefana and is also the regional capital of this region. Atsimo-Andrefana capital Toliara (Toliara) is approximately 891 km away from Mahajanga. The distance from Mahajanga to Madagascar’s capital Antananarivo (Antananarivo) is approximately 377 km. Apart from different ethnic groups from all over Madagascar, descendants of Comorian, Indo-Pakistanese and Chinese migrants live in harmony with native Sakalava Boeny in Mahajanga, plus Europeans. This cosmopolitan atmosphere makes Mahajanga the ideal place for first time travellers and adventurers to acclimatize to different culture. Ranked among Madagascar’s top tourist destinations, protected areas like Ankarafantsika, Baie de Baly or Tsingy de Namoroka National Parks are home to fauna and flora endemic to Boeny Region whose administrative center is Mahajanga. Breathe taking Waterfall, impressive caves, river and mangrove wait to be discovered and enjoyed with villages along white sand beaches and the city of Mahajanga. Put together, it is all of these aspects and more that make Mahajanga the ultimate travel destination.
