The Green Lion


If you are interested in educating the local Fijians with simple hygiene techniques, you are welcome to join Sigatoka Healthcare Education Project. You can contribute to the good health of the locals of Fiji by joining the healthcare project specially designed to keep the local population in good health. This works towards the prevention of many avoidable health problems and easily communicable diseases. — Program Description The general health of average Fijians is quite good and robust as most of the youths are interested in Sports and they begin their training at an early age. However, as they get older, especially the women, they tend to get obese after births of their children. Since most of the local populations live in the villages, they have little or no knowledge of hygiene and diet. This leads to a wide range of diseases like high blood sugar, cholesterol, hypertension etc. The other common diseases common in villages are skin eruptions/ lesions, urinary infections, gum disease and heart diseases. Our healthcare education initiative is in its infancy and requires the skills of both established medical and healthcare professionals and those who are interested in teaching basic first-aid and personal hygiene. This need for having project participants on either end of the medical spectrum arises due to the great extremes in hygiene and health practices. About the Accommodation Participants will stay at our centre which is located in Sigatoka area, yet can vary depending on the project, Participants will stay at our centre which is dorm style with an own bathroom. There are refrigerators at the accommodation for participant’s convenience. – Food Arrangements We serve breakfast and dinner at the normal time during the weekend. Breakfast is western style and lunch and dinner are typical Fijian style.


It’s one and half hour drive from Nadi and is Fiji’s adventure capital. The location is perfect, sitting along a beautiful stretch of coastline, on the Southeast coast of Viti Levu, and a three hour drive from Suva. The area lives up to its reputation as a spot for adrenaline junkies, offering a wide variety of activities to get your heart racing, from surfing and shark feeding to four-wheel-drive tours. For a more laid-back experience try a round of golf on the championship course, or enjoy a spot of fishing. Offering lush rainforests, rivers and waterfalls at your back door and a beach looking across to Beqa Island which is world famous for fire walking.
