An important benefit is that there will be exchange of ideas and views which will benefit the volunteers, the project and Communities involved. This will create confidence and a gain in knowledge among the people involved. With the efforts of the volunteers the project goals can also be attained and the volunteers will also have a sense of personal satisfaction.

Others with an aptitude to care for children are also welcome. The ICYE programme started in India in 1983. Inter Cultural Dialogue &Exchange – India, (ICDE – India), founded in 2006 by a group of former ICYE volunteers is a secular organisation, with its main office in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Voluntary service host placements, mostly in Karnataka and adjacent South Indian states, include homes for street children, orphanages, disabled, old age homes, people with HIV/AIDS, health care, agriculture / farming, women’s projects, rural and community development, etc. ICYE India, upon request, offers opportunities to learn/study yoga, Indian music and Indian classical dance, music, herbal medicine, Indian philosophy, spirituality.
