ICYE India The CSI New Life Centre is a training centre for underprivileged young people. The centre offers young people from the local community the opportunity to learn vocational skills, which not only helps the individual to become self reliant and economically independent but also benefits society as a whole.
This project offers training for under privileged young people so that they can learn valuable vocational skills. The project aims to give these young people the chance to become active members of their society by giving them an opportunity to learn a trade and be self reliant and economically independent. The centre offers training in carpentry, embroidery, tailoring, electrical work etc.

The local community is community of trade and business. The students are drawn from economically middle class people. The boarding home boys are poor The place called Tumkur is a big city located at about 70 kilometers from Bangalore. Bangalore is the capital city of Karnataka state.
Male volunteers: teaching knowledge for sports or music. We also require volunteers to have manual skills to participate in the technical school. Female volunteers: english knowledge, ability to teach, experience with music, arts and crafts. Minimum: 4 weeks Maximum: up to one year
The ICYE programme started in India in 1983. Inter Cultural Dialogue &Exchange – India, (ICDE – India), founded in 2006 by a group of former ICYE volunteers is a secular organisation, with its main office in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Voluntary service host placements, mostly in Karnataka and adjacent South Indian states, include homes for street children, orphanages, disabled, old age homes, people with HIV/AIDS, health care, agriculture / farming, women’s projects, rural and community development, etc. ICYE India, upon request, offers opportunities to learn/study yoga, Indian music and Indian classical dance, music, herbal medicine, Indian philosophy, spirituality.
