This program is an essential way for you to understand Israeli culture and give you an opportunity to learn about the country’s rich history and culture. Not only is it an enjoyable and fun filled week that will make your trip more enjoyable, it will help you appreciate your stay later on if you are participating in further programs. You will learn more about the Israeli people, culture, customs, language and history, visiting highlights of both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Throughout the week you’ll be staying in both cities and getting a feel of the local vibe. You’ll uncover the holy city of Jerusalem, venturing by foot through the Armenian, Christian, Jewish and Muslim quarters, various ancient sites, and sacred religious grounds. Then whisked away to Tel Aviv for the remainder of their culture week where you will have a chance to see what it’s like to live in “the city that never sleeps.” You’ll cover housekeeping rules of Israel too! Learning about the do’s and don’t’s of Israeli culture, learning about the best way to get around Israel, and picking up some of the local language.
About the Accommodation : You will stay at a hostel style dorm room. The room is basic but comfortable and include bunk beds, cable TV, a closet, as well as a mini-fridge, all which you are welcome to use. Food Arrangements : Breakfast is served at the hostel from 7am. It is a full Israeli breakfast which consists of eggs, breads, vegetables, labneh (a type of yogurt), juice, coffee and tea. You will receive a food voucher to purchase lunch and/or dinner for the duration of your program. The voucher is equivalent to 60 shekels a day and can be used at most eateries around Tel Aviv, allowing you to enjoy a range of local foods.
During this placement, you’ll be staying at a hostel in the center of Tel Aviv, in the heart of the city. Tel Aviv is located along the Mediterranean coast of central-west Israel and is the second most populous city in Israel. In addition to its impressive collection of Bauhaus buildings and endless beaches, Tel Aviv is also a bustling metropolis with a vibrant night life.
