The Green Lion
You will be assisting an organization that has been working for over 20 years to develop individuals with special needs to their fullest potential by providing them with high quality support and rehabilitation services. You can expect to work on a range of projects including sheltered workshops, leisure and social clubs, afterschool programs, rehabilitative/nursing day care, and adult rehabilitation. The projects involve training and providing employment for special needs adults according to each individual’s abilities and needs. This includes assisting clients with their work, such as packaging jewelry, educational materials for kindergartens, etc. You also have the opportunity to assist the staff in afternoon leisure and enrichment activities, such as watching movies or plays, cooking classes, and holiday celebrations. The afterschool program provides a complementary framework to the regular school hours and organizes recreational and social activities, as well as therapy in the afternoon. This program caters to children with varying levels of intellectual, physical, behavioral and developmental disabilities. You will assist the staff and engage with the children during arts-and-crafts, soccer, baseball, baking, music, drama, etc. You can also spend your time helping infants and toddlers with developmental delays by providing them with individualized treatment and rehabilitation services, as well as support for their family members. About the Accommodation : You will stay at a hostel style dorm room. The room is basic but comfortable and include bunk beds, cable TV, a closet, as well as a mini-fridge, all which you are welcome to use. Food Arrangements : Breakfast is served at the hostel from 7am. It is a full Israeli breakfast which consists of eggs, breads, vegetables, labneh (a type of yogurt), juice, coffee and tea. You will receive a food voucher to purchase lunch and/or dinner for the duration of your program. The voucher is equivalent to 60 shekels a day and can be used at most eateries around Tel Aviv, allowing you to enjoy a range of local foods.
During this placement, you’ll be staying at a hostel in the center of Tel Aviv, in the heart of the city. Tel Aviv is located along the Mediterranean coast of central-west Israel and is the second most populous city in Israel. In addition to its impressive collection of Bauhaus buildings and endless beaches, Tel Aviv is also a bustling metropolis with a vibrant night life.
