Fundación Casa Palabra y Pueblo offers a variety of services and coordinates a number of projects, aimed at providing residents, especially, but not exclusively, children and young people with the tools required to be successful, fully engaged and participatory at home, at school, at work, and in their communities. Main Activities: To provide materials/equipment needed to develop/strengthen literacy and communication skills. These include an Infocentro (internet center), lending library, ludotheque (early childhood learning center), and our two-hour radio magazine for adults and thirty minute radio program by and for children, both of which are broadcast weekly. There is also, a Life History Project, the purpose of which is to recover/preserve the history of Intag, in the voices of residents. The life histories will be available in print and digital formats and some of the histories will be material for a segment on our radio magazine. The histories will be available to residents, students, journalists, researchers, and anyone else interested in History of Intag community. Volunteer tasks: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: volunteers will work from 9:00 – 4:00 on interviewing, researching, recording, editing material for the two-hour radio magazine, broadcast on Thursday evenings and rebroadcast on Friday mornings on Radio Intag. Thursday afternoon, volunteers will be involved in after school activities with children in Pucará, from which the 30-minutes children’s radio program broadcast on Saturday mornings is developed. Thursday mornings and Fridays will be dedicated to material edition for children´s program as well as interviewing and/or transcribing interviews for the Life History project, as will any time left over on other days, not required for work on the radio broadcasts.

Good communication skills, be outgoing, caring and motivated. The volunteer should be patient, proactive, have basic Spanish skills, and like living in a rural environment. – Minimum stay is 4 weeks, maxi 16 weeks. Most of the voluntary service placements include centres for with at-risk children, disabled, health centres and environmental programmes in disadvantaged communities.
